We offer so many classes and activities at our Yacht Club, and we are sure there is something for everyone. Our classes provide great opportunities for every participant to gradually improve their abilities and become better at whichever activity they’re pursuing. Learn to Sail and Power Boat Programs at the Victor Harbor Yacht Club

The Victor Harbor Yacht Club is an accredited Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre. The Centre is managed by Southern Ocean Sailing Centre, a sub-committee of the Victor Harbor Yacht Club.

FREE Discover Sailing Days

The Club programs a number of Discover Sailing Days which provide people interested in becoming involved in sailing. This is a great way to whet your appetite. You will be given the opportunity to take to the water in a Pacer dinghy with an experienced sailor, or on one of the regular fleet racing boats.

Want to get involved?

Join one of our courses run by our Discover Sailing Director, Ian Porteous. Ian has been sailing and instructing for many years and is helped by a team of talented instructors and assistant instructors. Ian also runs a number of school teams racing programs with local schools.

​

The Centre conducts courses from the Introductory, Start Sailing 1 and 2 through to Racing Skills using qualified Australian Sailing Instructors and Assistant Instructors. The courses are conducted in Pacer Dinghies and O’pen BICs.

Support boats are always on water with the classes with the Bridge crew keeping an eye on the overall fleet. Life jackets are provided by the Centre. There are some wetsuits and spray jackets available as well.

Courses are run during terms 1 and 4 of the school year.

​

Participants are provided with an Australian Sailing Log Book and a Course Book.
